Welcome to Anointed Minds
Educational Consulting (AMEC)

About The Founder

Wife. Mother. Educator.

DeAnna L. Adams is a wife, mother, entrepreneur, youth pastor, director and devoted educator. She received both her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in Reading from Chicago State University. Early in her career, she taught kindergarten and third-grade gifted students. Additionally, she served as an adjunct professor teaching graduate reading courses for her alma mater.

In 2008, DeAnna saw there was a need to provide a consistent, nurturing environment with an educated adult role model for students and established Anointed Minds Educational Consulting. AMEC strives to empower students to recognize their potential and to help them improve skills they need to function more effectively in school and the community.

She is a member of the International Literacy Association, National Educators Association (NEA) and a board member of 826 Foundation-Mentoring and Outreach Program. Additionally, she serves as the Director of Youth and Family Services, as well as Youth Pastor at New Life Restoration Ministries along with her husband, Mathais J. Adams. She was recently appointed Youth Chairlady for the Illinois Midwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction (IMEJ).

DeAnna is extremely passionate about using her expertise to grow, develop, and inspire the children of Anointed Minds Educational Consulting.

Courtney D. Watkins, M.Ed

Teacher

Courtney Watkins, M.Ed. is a highly qualified educator with sixteen years of experience. She received both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Prairie View A&M University and is certified by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification in Elementary Education. She has served as a math teacher in multiple grade levels at the elementary level and has also served as a Master Teacher, Mentor Teacher, Team Leader, Math and Academic Specialist. Because of her devotion to ensuring scholars growth and proficiency in math, she was bestowed the honor of Teacher of the Year for her campus during the 2016-2017 school year. Currently, she supports students, teachers and administrators as a Digital Learning and Assessment Specialist.

Ms. Watkins’ Philosophy of Education is that every scholar deserves the right to learn so that they may become productive citizens of society. As a classroom teacher she often explained to her scholars that receiving an education was an investment for their future so as their teacher, it was her responsibility to ensure that pedagogically, they meet the standards that were set forth by the State of Texas but as an individual they met her standards of having good character. Teaching numerous elementary grade levels in different economic settings has allowed her to interact with scholars in different lifestyles, therefore; she is aware of the importance of building strong relationships with scholars and their families regardless of their economic status or academic ability because everyone deserves a quality education.

Jenae Brown

Teacher

Hello! My name is Jenae Brown and I am 24 years young. I love reading, doing DIYs and I’m a professional Target shopper. I am currently a student at GSU and will be graduating with a degree in sociology. After I graduate I plan on getting my masters in education, with a concentration in early childhood/ school counseling.

I have been working with children for the past 6 years. I have worked at summer camp as a camp lead and head of the arts and crafts department. In the last three years I have spent time learning different curriculum from teachers and trying to perfect my own methods of helping the next generation through tutoring help and hopefully one day teaching. My favorite subject to help with is reading followed closely by language arts.

Few of My Favorite Things; Color: Pink or anything that sparkles, Food: Tacos or Pizza, Drink: Dunkin Latte or Icee, Book: Well-Read Black Girl by Glory Edim, and Store: Target
